Marilyn

 "Marilyn"
22" x 28"
Oil on canvas
Amber L Bailey

This is my rather stylized take on the classic Marilyn Monroe. I've wanted to paint a Marilyn for a while now and though the result is different from what I had in mind - I love it! I think this exemplifies the idea behind my recent work - the ideal woman, the face, the figure... the expression of confidence. I was able to capture "Marilyn" without capturing the true Marilyn. Her face is a piece of iconography and this is what my painting represents. Now, a portrait of Marilyn? - that's a project for another day... or year.
